Piglet Wine Bar
Decanter magazine pointed out that whilst Thibaud and Enrico’s Piglet Wine Bar is located on the fringes of Temple Bar, “Piglet is a retreat from it all.” Too right. Amidst the dubious standards of TB, Piglet is a jewel-sized jewel, home to superb cooking and glorious wines. The menu style seems almost affectedly casual –“Duck hearts and mushrooms, garlic butter, Bit of bread...” but don’t mistake their artful sprezzatura for sloppiness: Piglet is the real deal, and the cooking is robustly authentic – the signature octopus with fregola; the cote de boeuf; rabbit shoulder with colcannon; chocolate mousse with Amarena cherries. The food really sings when matched with the right wine, and Thibaud will always manage to find that bottle for you. A true retreat.
