The Stop is a West Coast classic.
It has the most singular aesthetic, explained by the fact that Russ Hart and Emer Fitzpatrick were both gallerists in a previous life, so every detail of the house is showcased at its best, from the pictures on the wall, to the buffet table, to the food on the breakfast plate. Bathe it all in the bright light of a Galway morning and you have a superlative destination, a place where everything is shown in it's best light.
What you don't see is the hard work that Russ and Emer have poured into the place, ever since they opened in 2005. It's only been in the last year, however, that The Stop has been finally completed to their liking, as they have tweaked and polished and perfected. What they aim for, they have said is a “very calm, beautiful energy”, and they deliver that in spades. This is one of those breakfast rooms where everyone in the room is SO HAPPY to be here, right now. “Look what we found in Galway, look at how good this is, I'm sending you an Instagram!”, you can hear them thinking. Everyone is practically gurgling with delight. It's poignant, and the energy is infectious, and you could only find a house like The Stop in Galway city. Must be something in the air...
