The Twelve, a groovy, colourful hotel at the junction in Barna, west of Galway city, is a fascinating place. It’s as modern as all-get-out and yet… and yet, it’s actually utterly traditional in a uniquely Irish way.
How so? Because of the team who work with manager Fergus O’Halloran, who work in the old Irish way, which is to say: they look after you. They are patient, funny, generous, and unself-conscious. They make the experience of staying here utterly special and, in the bar and restaurant (and pizzeria), you see this social genius at work at pell-mell pace: Barna, New York.
Thanks to Head Chef, Martin O'Donnell for taking us out for a local coast forage. www.lifeskills.ie
