Our measurement of the success of the Wild Atlantic Way, comes down to a very personal matrix: the first edition of our book, Where to Eat and Stay on the Wild Atlantic Way was a complete sell out. The success of the book brought us back to the West Coast, and the result is the 2015 edition, which, believe it or not, is fully 10% bigger than the 2014 publication. The energy that people have invested in new openings from Donegal to Kinsale is really extraordinary.
Minister for Tourism Paschal Donohoe and Failte Ireland deserve all credit for creating and then enacting a travel route that has caught the public imagination like nothing else. We hope their plans for the East Coast, announced as Ireland's Ancient East, proves to be as great a success as the WAW. Our most recent journey to the Boyne Valley, to launch the Boyne Valley Food Series, and the continuing success of Dungarvan's annual food festival reveal that there is a wealth of dynamic food talent everywhere in Ireland.
Where to Eat and Stay on the Wild Atlantic Way is available in all good book stores, as well as many food shops and restaurants on the WAW itself. It can also be ordered here with free postage.
