Where in Ireland would you be able to grab some tuna sashimi, a drink of carrot and passionfruit, a sandwich of pulled pork with crackling, some Tipperary onglet, a frock for your child and a lunch with friends, all under the one roof.
Avoca at Rathcoole, of course. Simon Pratt’s groovy store is now home to Sprout, a fab juice bar; Poulet Bonne Femme; Michie Sushi; and James Whelan Butchers. The new concessions have cemented the EATALY style of assembling top notch producers and cooks under one roof, and it is understating it to say that you could go mad with the plastic in here. It’s a dazzling assemblage of traders and on a Saturday afternoon you couldn’t swing a cat in the downstairs zone. (You couldn’t swing a cat upstairs, either, for that matter.)
Avoca has always outpaced its rivals by constant, wise innovation, and Rathcoole is simply the latest in their steady march to world domination. No better guys.
