Waterford Castle

Waterford Castle is a 16th Century castle set on a tiny island right where the River Barrow meets the sea. Only minutes from Waterford city centre, there is something utterly other-worldly in the experience of slipping over to the island on the ferry and enjoying the elegant cooking of chef Tom Spruce.

Lovely waterside walks will work up an appetite for breakfast, and the only trouble is the fact that you won’t be looking forward to taking the ferry back to reality.
