The Supper Club

Archive - all the best places to eat, shop and stay in Ireland. A local guide to local places.

Tom and Grainne Kay’s Supper Club is one of those rooms everybody falls in love with. Everybody loves the slick, modern bar and its sympathetic lighting – this is a great bar, one of those classic creations that just demands that you pull up a stool and order a Scilly Walk. Everybody loves the atmospheric booths, and the comfort of the wood-panelled room. Above all, everybody loves the sincere welcome and hospitality of the Kays, who work super-hard to make everyone feel special. And then, of course, everybody loves the food, a smart, elegant style of cooking that simply brings on the feel-good factor: steamed Oysterhaven mussels; 24-hour beef short rib with parsnip purée; West Cork burger with Baltimore black bacon; roast hake with polenta; salted caramel creme brulée. Great liquid desserts and whiskeys round off the night. Tom and Grainne like to emphasise the casual nature of The Supper Club, but there is nothing casual about their dedication and expertise.
