The Strand Cahore
Aileen and Patrick Hanley brought superstar reputations with them when they crossed the country, to move from County Kerry to Cahore Point in Wexford, so it came as no surprise that The Strand Cahore quickly met with delighted acclaim from food lovers.
The Strand may be a traditional Irish pub – overlooking the sea since 1893 – but Aileen and Patrick’s rock-steady professionalism and creative culinary flair means the cooking has all the élan and wisdom one finds in the best contemporary Irish food: Cahore smokies with Wexford cheddar; Macamore burger with O’Neill’s bacon; Kilmore Quay whiting goujons. The Strand Cahore menu demonstrates nothing less than a masterclass in the art of sourcing, from local fish and shellfish to the ingredients they use for their wood-fired pizzas, right down to the fact that they fire up eucalyptus wood for those pizzas. Fantastic food for the young ones, and Aileen and Patrick have brought their own magic to a magical Wexford destination.
