For two decades, Derek and Susan Alcorn have epitomised Donegal hospitality. Blessed with a magnificent design aesthetic, the seven rooms are sublimely comfortable, the essence of a fine manor house that has been home to generations – if you are tired of same-old modern identikit hotel rooms, you will simply swoon at the ageless comfort that you will find in The Mill, the sense of family and history, of art and craft, of culture and riches beyond measure. And then, there is breakfast, prepared by Mr Alcorn, one of the finest, most perspicacious of Donegal cooks. Can’t you just see yourself, sitting at the table overlooking New Lake, enjoying Caprese eggs benedict, or a unique fish omelette, prepared and cooked with exacting precision, before a day spent sightseeing this magnificent headland – and especially the extraordinary churches designed by Liam McCormick – or surfing the ebullient waves of the beaches of Horn Head. The Mill offers Donegal, epitomised!
