Bar Pigalle
The sister bar to Barrack Street’s legendary Tom Barry’s pub was re-animated in mid-2019, when genial chef Mark Ahern affixed a rockin’ kitchen to this handsome bar and set about cementing the reputation of Barracka as the up-and-coming zone in Cork city. This is one of the city’s great rooms, powered by ace cocktails, sublime music, and fleet staff who ferry Ahern’s dishes to the table with pride. He sources wisely from the city’s best suppliers, and has a calm and gentle touch as a cook, letting the deft union of scallops with oyster tempura, or cappelletti with Coolea cheese, or chocolate with salted caramel, whisper sweet things into your ear. The whole darn thing is so Cork charming that it’s pretty easy to forget all about tomorrow. PB&K is a pivotal new destination for the city.
