Crudo
A new generation brings new energy to a food business, and this is exactly what the Crescenzi guys, Ghinlon and Sean, have brought to Crudo, a warm, welcoming room just off the square in Sandymount. Whilst the room echoes the mothership Dunne & Crescenzi flagship on South Frederick Street, in terms of wine and design, the new team have quickly brought on a more international style of Italian food – mackerel puttanesca with pea and mint salsa; char-grilled pork chop with preserved lemon and n’duja; burnt avocado salad with basil and lemongrass. Of course, fine pasta dishes remain the bedrock of the offer – white rabbit ragu with fettucine and peas; tagliatelle with seared chicken livers and Marsala cream; courgette spaghetti with pistachio and mint pesto. The service is so welcoming it’s obvious that, for many Sandymount locals, Crudo is nothing less than a second dining room.
