Gallagher's Boxty House
For a restaurant that made its name and reputation cooking a traditional form of Irish food – Irish boxty pancakes with an assortment of toppings – Gallagher’s Boxty House is distinguished today by being anything but traditional in its approach.
This Temple Bar stalwart is ceaselessly innovative, and in recent times has added their Poyo! Chicken takeaway to their Boxty House offering. Poyo drinks from the same well as Boxty, utilising top-class Irish foods – Waterford blaas; organic Kilkenny chicken – to make some serious yum stuff: Poyo! Classico with hot sauce, gherkins and lettuce; Poyo! BLT with garlic herb mayo, and there are scrummy dishes with chicken tenders, and lots of potato dishes and top-class fries.
The Boxty classics are also present and correct: Boxty stew platter with soda bread; Dublin coddle; traditional Irish stew; chicken and bacon boxty dumplings; Boxty beef burger with Knockanore smoked cheese.
And because the Boxty House team have always been ahead of the curve, they offer every imaginable way to get their dishes to the customer, with simple ordering across all platforms, wickedly fine graphics and navigation on their websites, and speedy delivery via every imaginable form of transport. It’s a superlative service, and explains why Boxty House has more than three decades of service to the people of Dublin and Ireland under its belt. Tradition, but better.
