The Long Dock
Tony and Imelda have been in Loop Head for more than two decades now, and in those twenty-odd years they have never ceased to improve, develop and make better their iconic pub, The Long Dock. The result of that ceaseless striving can be gauged on the face of every first-time visitor to this Loop Head landmark. Just watch as a visitor steps in the door, sees the blazing fire, sees the gleam of the flames reflected on the floor, casts an eye around the cosy room, settles down on a stool at the bar, and says to themselves: this is it! I have found the Irish pub of my dreams!
That is what everyone who comes to Carrigaholt thinks, and it’s all thanks to Tony and Imelda’s hard work, and passion for perfection. Of course, what also makes The Long Dock the pub of your dreams is the fact that it serves the best pub food you can find. The LD chowder, for instance, is a classic of the genre, but then so is every other piece of fish and shellfish on which Tony casts his unerring culinary spell: the benchmark seafood pie; the monkfish with crispy pancetta; the scallops with brown butter. The addition of their new ice cream parlour makes things extra special. The food of your dreams, in the pub of your dreams, all made real, in real life, in The Long Dock. The wonder is that anyone ever leaves.
