Gleeson's
Eamonn and Mary Gleeson’s restaurant with rooms is the sort of hospitality endeavour that is nothing less than the backbone of Irish rural life.
Over the course of almost thirty years, the Gleesons have steered their business though boom and bust, adapting, developing, moving with the times whilst also retaining the signature elements that make their business so characterful.
Above all, they look after their customers, welcoming them, reading their minds, understanding their needs, cooking and caring for them in an unpretentious, honest way. At the core of their work is delicious cooking – seafood chowder with homemade soda breads; the signature Roscommon lamb stew; supreme of Gannon’s chicken with potato blinis; fish and chips with craft beer batter and Gleeson’s home fries. This is the cooking of the county and the country – generous, tasty, soulful and satisfying – right from their beautifully prepared breakfasts through to dinner.
There are 19 comfortable rooms in the house, and the location – right in the centre of town – means that there simply is no better place to be based when exploring the quiet charm of this lovely county, a county which is defined by Eamonn and Mary’s true hospitality.
