Digital publishing from McKennas’ Guides continues apace. We have just launched version 1.1 of our 100 Best Restaurants in Ireland 2014. Those of you who purchased it can download the new version free from the App Store. We have fixed a number of issues that bugged us in version 1, particularly the Facebook links, which now link directly to the establishment's page on Facebook, and the same on Twitter. We’ve also optimised the images to reduce the size of the app, and we’ve been able to correct some minor text isses and contact details.
Those of you who are thinking about buying it – Version 1 was given a 5* rating. Just saying.
In the meantime we are back planning for the next guides. At the end of this month we launch, in book form, Where to Eat and Stay on the Wild Atlantic Way. This will be a book for the summer, and then in the autumn we are publishing it as an App that will be able to find your location and advise you about the next coffee stop/lunch/tea/dinner/B&B and whatever on the route.
To work on these Apps and Smart Guides we have teamed up with Dublin City University, who will be developing all our digital guides in future. It’s an exciting time to be working in food publishing.
